The Number Twenty-Two

Numerology has always been fascinating to me especially as it relates with astrology and the tarot.  It also has played a role in writing my book as I religiously counted how many words I had written each day to track my progress.  As each scene was finished, I calculated how far I had come and how much farther I had to go.  I did this on the first rewrite and the second as well. It’s really how I run my life.

It felt like eating an elephant, one bite at a time.  Sometimes I chewed for awhile and other times the words just flowed onto the page as if Rose were whispering in my ear.   Often times she just wanted me to watch the scene and be the observer so I hovered above her on the beach with Henry who she secretly loved, and he loved her too.  Or to the library when Miss Honeycutt mentored her on her journey and explained the meaning of her dreams.

Rose shared how she had watched a football game and her friend Ralph as the quarterback.  He wore a huge twenty two across his chest.  Every boy on the field wore numbers, too.  She figures it all out later yet it takes her time. The number twenty two is a spiritual and master number and is considered by some as the most powerful number combination of all.  Go figure.

Which really brings me to my point.  Numbers are just another way for the wisdom of the universe to come to us.  Everything has meaning and value.  So the next time you see double 11:11 or you find yourself stumbling over the same sequence or number, pay attention.  Then Google it and be amazed at what you will find.
