Feathers Everywhere
This last Saturday, Hay House sponsored an event in Denver that brought over four thousand people to the convention center. It was called I Can Do It. My favorite speaker was Doreen Virtue. She was so amazing. Her energy was beyond tuned into the crowd. She invited her good friend James Van Pragh to read the audience with her. She was truly an inspiration.
As much as I enjoyed Doreen, it was Denise Linn who really caught my attention. Born into the Cherokee Nation, she told her story of discrimination and how she learned to talk with animal spirits and get guidance. She told us of a mentor who used feathers in his name and to communciate with her now that he has passed. To learn more about this amazing woman, please go to her website www.deniselinn.com
Anyway, what she said about feathers really struck a thick cord with me. Since writing my novel, feathers have shown up in the most unusual places. One time I went outside, enjoying the sun, sitting on a bench. In a blue spruce that was next to me, there were hundreds of feathers locked into the spiny branches of the tree. It was such a nice gift of affirmations to my journey. We all need encouragement and feathers fo that for me.
They also meant to me that success was just around the corner. Those little critters come into my life daily in all shapes and sizes. Just this week, I put on a pair of sweats that had a quarter size feather caught in the fabric. Now it makes me smile.
Denise said to ask for and then pay attention to the signs that may be our animal totems or our animal names. Right now, I am hoping that feather is part of my name. I have a bit more meditating to do to be sure. After all, don’t all of us want just a little proof?
